Wolf Moon

The moon sits proudly in the sky,
it's girth pulling focus,
as sky around it peaks out from both sides.
Purple hues saturate the upper atmosphere,
glittering with hope of life among the stars.
Our bare feet trample through fallen leaves,
littering the damp earth of the forest.
Your hands leading me through jungle terrain,
as our laughter echos out into the night life.
We come upon a pond,
gently rocking the moon in it's arms,
and the trees begin to sway.
You take my face in your hands, and pull me to you,
and you whisper so low as if a growl.
Suddenly arms are enveloping bodies, lips locking, eyes melting,
as we hit the basin floor.
I can see the stars glisten in your skin as you unwrap me,
your breathe soft on my neck,
your hands tight around my back,
pulling me into you.
And as I hear my own voice escaping the night air,
rising up to find resistance against the moon,
the wolves gather 'round to harmonize.
Their howls are met with an escalation as
we turn, and your eyes find me framed against the moon.
The wolves gather, as if protecting us from the outside world,
their opera of sound waves vibrating against our own.
And as I sing out to the sky above,
you find me and pull me close,
as we melt into a puddle of colors,
nestled against the forest floor,
and the wolf moon in that purple sky.
